A cake with candles, as it's always good to celebrate success

Suddenly, from 0 to 100 posts in under 2 years!

When I started writing a blog, it seemed like a reasonable task. Easy, I thought. Start with a few thoughts about the work that I do. Eventually, I reasoned, I would be able to complete each post with a certain degree of ease. Once a week, I mused, would be manageable. It did not work out as planned. It has been a challenge, getting something published every week. Which I did. Until recently. A bit of an unplanned gap. But here I am. Suddenly, from 0 to 100 posts in under 2 years!

Planning means you know where you're going.Originally, I planned to rotate my topics between NLP, hypnosis, coaching, and training. This, I thought, would provide variety. However, the reality proved very different. Almost everything that I do links to coaching. Consequently, most of the blogs have focussed on that.

Of course, the blog itself comes back to coaching. Firstly, I had an idea about writing the blog. It was a vague idea with no specific aim. Eventually, I worked out how I wanted to frame the blog, focussing, as I said earlier, on the work that I do.

Barriers come in many forms, and it's good to think about what they may beSecondly, I looked at the reality of writing regularly. Crucially, I considered the possible barriers to achieving this. Rarely are there no barriers to our plans. From time to self-belief, there is always the possibility of something getting in the way. It’s good, therefore, to think about that in advance. Obviously, you can’t plan for everything. A Plan B, though, does start to generate options and solutions.

Eventually, you have to take action. All the plans in the world will lead to nothing if you don’t take action.

So, thirdly, I set a date to start. An arbitrary date. A date with a very specific objective. To publish a weekly blog.

Initially, I planned. Then, I wrote. Obvious, I published. And I surprised myself. Not only was I enjoying the challenge, it felt good to be creating something new. I completed the first blog. And then the next. And then the next. Suddenly, it was happening. I was achieving, and continue to achieve, my goal. A weekly blog.

Three people jumping in the air, celebrating their successAnd then, here it is. Suddenly, from 0 to 100 posts in under 2 years! It feels a bit unreal. Yet, that’s how progress happens. Critically, that’s how success happens. One step at a time.

I could, of course, have created 100 blogs and published them all at the same time. That, though, was not the goal. And, apart from not achieving the goal, I would have missed out on the experience. My learning and growth would not have happened.

I’ve had to deal with a lack of time. Additionally, I’ve had to plan for weeks when I’ve been away or have other plans. Further to that, some weeks I’ve struggled to come up with ideas. However, I’ve persevered, and here we are. 100 posts later.

Finally, am I where I want to be? Yes, I am. Am I planning on continuing? Of course. What have I learned? It’s OK to be out of ideas. Pause and inspiration arrives. Take the pressure off. And when it really didn’t happen, that’s OK. It was a pause. Importantly, it made me realise that I want to continue.

So, get on with your own plans now. Plan for challenges. Take action. Obviously, if you can do it for yourself, do it now. However, if you’re not sure, book an initial conversation here, and then take the next step. You know that you can do it, and you know that it makes sense, don’t you?
