It’s that time of year again. For some, Christmas brings great joy. Others, though, find the season a challenging one. And for all sorts of reasons. If you’re ready to throw yourself into the festivities, then do so. Alternatively, if you just wish it’d all go away, now is the time for a plan. Wherever you stand, whatever your view, may your Christmas be exciting and joyful.
The key is to make it exciting and joyful for you. If you live for Christmas, throw yourself into the season that makes you happy. Celebrate your enjoyment.
Alternatively, if Christmas is really not your thing, turn it into something that is. Forget the tree. Avoid the turkey. Skip the crackers.
Instead, plan days you love. Prepare food you enjoy. Do what makes you happy. Make it exciting and joyful for you.
What, though, if you’re caught between what you want, and what those around you want? A Scrooge to the Christmas elves that fill your world?
Work out what matters to you and to them. Take charge and work out where you want to compromise. Take joy from the fact that you’re making it work for them, even if you’re not convinced.
Crucially, it’s not a one-way street. Work out what you can add in that excites you. Establish times when you take break. Do something else.
Critically, if you put yourself at cause, making it work for you and those around you, you might surprise yourself, and actually have a good time.
So, take the first step now. You can make it work so that everyone’s a winner. And, how exciting and joyful is that!
